Later, in 1859, Edwin Drake drilled a successful oil well in Pennsylvania.

To get the oil, workers must first find where it is hidden. They study the rocks and the ground to find a reservoir.

The Cenozoic era produced 20%, while the Paleozoic era contributed only 10%.
