Fine made several important mathematical approximations. He focused specifically on finding the value of pi. In 1544, he proposed the value (22+2/9)/7, which is approximately 3.1746.

Later, he provided the value 47/15, or approximately 3.1333. In his work *De rebus mathematicis*, published in 1556, he gave another estimate. This value was 3+11/78, or approximately 3.1410. These efforts show his dedication to precision in mathematical constants.

As a cartographer, Fine produced highly influential maps. In 1531, he created a world map using a cordiform projection. This means the map was shaped like a double human heart.

The left side represented the northern part of the world. The right side represented the southern part. This specific heart-shaped style was later used by other famous cartographers.
