One of the most famous results of this era is the Ville-Neuve. This is the "new town" built during the 18th century. It sits south of the medieval Vieille Ville. The Vieille Ville contains the Palace of the Dukes of Lorraine. 
In the late 19th century, Nancy became a center for the Art Nouveau movement. This was a style of art and design. A group called the École de Nancy led this movement. 
Today, Nancy is a vital center for science and education. It is home to the University of Lorraine. This is one of the largest universities in France.
