In 1992, Ramos became the 12th president. He worked to make the economy strong. He helped other countries trust the Philippines again. He was married to Amelita Martinez. They had five daughters together. Ramos died in 2022 at age 94.

He also became the Vice Chief-of-Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. In 1975, he oversaw the Integrated National Police. This was a unified force under the Philippine Constabulary. 
A major turning point occurred during the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution. 

Ramos entered the presidency through a complex election in 1992. He founded his own political party called Partido Lakas Tao. This party later became the Lakas–NUCD coalition. 
Fidel Ramos lived a long and active life. He married Amelita Martinez in 1954. They had five daughters and many grandchildren. Even after his presidency, he remained a political advisor. He passed away on July 31, 2022, at the age of 94. He died from the COVID-19 Omicron variant at Makati Medical Center.
