Building the tower was a huge job that happened in steps. First, workers built strong foundations in the ground.

Engineers Maurice Koechlin and Émile Nouguier first thought of the design. They worked for the company of Gustave Eiffel.

For a long time, the tower was the tallest thing in the world. It was taller than the Washington Monument. It held this record for 41 years. This lasted until the Chrysler Building was finished in 1930.

The Eiffel Tower is a massive lattice tower located on the Champ de Mars in Paris, France.

The design of the tower began with two senior engineers, Maurice Koechlin and Émile Nouguier.
Construction of the tower was a complex engineering feat that required extreme precision.

Once the foundations were set, the ironwork erection began on June 30, 1887. The tower is composed of 18,038 individual pieces. These components were manufactured at a factory in Levallois-Perret. They were transported to the site on horse-drawn carts.
At the time of its completion, the tower was a record-breaking structure. It was the first structure in the world to surpass both the 200-meter and 300-meter marks.
Not everyone was happy with the design when it was first proposed. A group called the "Committee of Three Hundred" formed to protest the tower.
The tower remains a massive destination for global tourism. It has three levels available for visitors. The first and second levels contain restaurants.

The Eiffel Tower's importance is reflected in its visitor numbers. In 2015, 6.91 million people ascended the tower. In 2022, the monument received 5,889,000 visitors.
