Rokeya was born in 1880 in the village of Pairaband, Rangpur. 
Rokeya's life of activism continued until her death on December 9, 1932. She died of heart problems on her 52nd birthday. 
Today, her contributions are officially honored by the state of Bangladesh. Every year on December 9, the nation observes Rokeya Day to commemorate her life.
