Weezer is a famous American rock band from Los Angeles.
In the beginning, the band worked hard to find their sound. Rivers Cuomo moved to California in 1989. He met drummer Patrick Wilson and they formed a band. They eventually chose the name Weezer from a nickname. This name came from a character in old short films. On February 14, 1992, the group officially formed. They played their first show on March 19, 1992. They even played with a band led by Keanu Reeves.
The band became very successful in the 1990s. Their first album came out in May 1994. Many people call it the Blue Album. It had famous songs like "Buddy Holly." This song won several awards for its music video.

Weezer has changed their music many times over the years. They have made albums that sound like pop music. They have also made albums that sound like hard rock. For example, the Green Album came out in 2001. It had a more pop sound and was a big success.

Today, the band continues to create new things for their fans. In 2021, they released an album called OK Human. This album had an orchestral pop sound.

Weezer is an influential American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California.
The band's origins involve several different musical groups and shifts in style. In 1989, Rivers Cuomo moved to Los Angeles from Mansfield, Connecticut. He originally played in a metal band called Avant Garde, which later became Zoom. After that group disbanded, Cuomo met drummer Patrick Wilson. They explored alternative rock influences like Nirvana, the Pixies, and Sonic Youth. They formed a band called Fuzz, but it did not last. They also tried a group called Sixty Wrong Sausages. Finally, on February 14, 1992, Cuomo, Wilson, Matt Sharp, and Jason Cropper formed Weezer.
Weezer's early career was defined by two very different major releases. After signing with Geffen Records in 1993, they released their self-titled debut in May 1994. This is often called the "Blue Album" due to its cover. The album integrated geeky humor and dense cultural references with massive melodic hooks.

The period following Pinkerton involved significant changes for the band members. During the recording of Pinkerton, Cuomo experienced loneliness and underwent major leg surgery. These personal struggles influenced the darker tone of the music. After the Pinkerton tour, founding bassist Matt Sharp left the group.
Since the early 2000s, Weezer has experimented with many different musical textures. Scott Shriner joined as the new bassist to stabilize the lineup. The band released Maladroit in 2002, which used a hard rock sound. In 2005, the album Make Believe produced the single "Beverly Hills." This song became their first to top the US Modern Rock Tracks chart.
In more recent years, the band has cycled through various production styles. They returned to a rock style reminiscent of the 1990s with the White Album in 2016. They also explored surprise releases, such as the Teal Album cover project in 2019.

Weezer's history is also marked by moments of profound community and shared loss. In 1997, three sisters named Mykel, Carli, and Trysta Allan died in a car accident. They had been helping to run the Weezer fan club. The band canceled a show to attend their funeral.
