Firefox and Samsung Internet each hold about 2%, while Opera also holds about 2%. Interestingly, much of the modern web is accessed via mobile devices. As of February 2025, mobile devices represent 62% of all internet traffic. Desktop computers account for 36%, and tablets represent 2%. 
Modern browsers offer many advanced features to improve the user experience. Most allow users to manage multiple pages at once using tabs. Common interface elements include back and forward buttons, a refresh button, and a home button. Users can also set bookmarks to save specific sites or use extensions to customize their experience. Some browsers now include integrated artificial intelligence, known as AI. For instance, Google Chrome includes the Gemini chatbot. Microsoft Edge features the Copilot chatbot. Newer entrants like Perplexity Comet and ChatGPT Atlas also use AI capabilities. 
Security and privacy are critical aspects of modern web browsing. Browsers are frequent targets for hackers who try to exploit security holes. To stay safe, vendors regularly release patches to fix these vulnerabilities. Users are encouraged to keep their software updated to maintain protection. Privacy is also a major concern, as websites often use cookies to track user behavior. While cookies can store login credentials or site preferences, they can also be used for long-term tracking. Some browsers, such as Brave and DuckDuckGo, are specifically designed to be more privacy-focused. They help protect users by blocking trackers, ads, and fingerprinting techniques.
