Some of his well-known songs include "Soura," which means "photo," and "Ehna elsha'b," meaning "we are the people." His music was very important during the revolutionary era of Gamal Abdel Nasser. Jahin was sometimes called the semiofficial poet of that revolution. He also wrote scripts for puppet theater, such as the operetta "El-leila el-kebira," or "The Grand Night."
Beyond poetry and music, Jahin was a talented cartoonist. He worked for the newspaper Al-Ahram for many years. His sketches focused on the details of everyday life. These drawings were a regular part of the paper from the 1960s until 1986. His cartoons were unique because they could make people laugh and cry at the same time. 
Jahin's career also included work in film and television. He was a screenwriter, a producer, and an actor. He wrote screenplays for movies like "Awdat al ibn al dal."
