Today, many different people live in the Komi Republic. In 2010, about 901,189 people lived there. Most people are ethnic Russians. The ethnic Komi people make up about 23.7% of the population.

Today, the republic is a place of diverse populations. As of the 2021 census, the population was 737,853 people. This was a decrease from the 901,189 people recorded in 2010.
