The highest temperature recorded was in August 1994. The lowest was in February 1981. The city is well-connected by many train lines. Sannomiya Station is the main transport hub. The Shinkansen high-speed train also stops at Shin-Kobe Station.

The Akashi Kaikyō Bridge also connects the region to Awaji Island.
