He thought space and time were ways our minds organize everything. Because of this, we only see things as they appear to us. We cannot know what things are truly like on their own. He also believed that reason helps us decide what is right. This helped him create rules for how people should behave.

His systematic approach made him one of the most influential thinkers in history.

Kant developed a major theory called transcendental idealism. This theory explains how we experience the world. He argued that space and time are forms of intuition. This means they are structures our minds use to organize experience. Because of this, we only see objects as they appear to us. He believed the true nature of things is unknowable.

He compared his approach to the Copernican Revolution. Just as Copernicus changed how we see the universe, Kant changed how we see the mind.

Kant's philosophy also explored morality and beauty. He believed that reason is the primary source of morality. He also believed that aesthetics comes from disinterested judgment. This means judging beauty without personal desire. His religious views were also connected to his moral theories. However, the exact nature of his religious beliefs remains a subject of debate.

In 1754, he wrote about the Earth's rotation. He argued that the Moon's gravity slows the Earth's spin. He also proposed the nebular hypothesis. This theory suggests the Solar System formed from a large gas cloud, or nebula.

He even suggested that the Milky Way was a large disk of stars. His ideas helped extend astronomy beyond our own solar system.

Kant also contributed to the study of natural disasters. In 1756, he published papers on the 1755 Lisbon earthquake. He tried to explain earthquakes using natural causes. He suggested they were caused by shifts in large caverns of hot gas. While this was inaccurate, it was a systematic attempt at a natural explanation.
