Kaypakkaya is remembered today as a major symbol of resistance. His ideas helped shape many different communist movements. He was a leader who brought together various Marxist-Leninist thoughts. His life and work had a deep impact on Turkish politics.

Kaypakkaya's political ideas were built on several specific frameworks. He was a Maoist, meaning he followed the theories of Mao Zedong. One key concept he used was People's War. This is a strategy used to achieve revolution. He was also a Leninist. This meant he supported the idea of Kurdish self-determination.
