The other is an oblique spiral galaxy behind it. Another example is ESO 510-G13, which is a warped spiral galaxy. Scientists believe interactions with other galaxies caused its disk to change shape. These distant objects show the complex structure of the cosmos.

Hydra also connects to local solar system events. The Sigma Hydrids is a very active meteor shower. It peaks every year on December 6. This shower is caused by Comet Nishimura, which was discovered in 2023. Additionally, the star GJ 357 is quite close to our Solar System. It is only 31 light-years away. This star has three confirmed exoplanets in its orbit. One planet, GJ 357 d, is considered a "Super-Earth." It sits within the circumstellar habitable zone.
