This organization later became known as The Doug Engelbart Institute. The institute worked to promote his ideas, particularly at Stanford University. Engelbart received several prestigious honors for his massive contributions to technology. In 1997, he won the ACM Turing Award. In December 2000, President Bill Clinton awarded him the National Medal of Technology. This is the highest honor the United States gives for technological achievement.

Engelbart's work connects to almost every part of modern digital life. His concept of hypertext is the foundation of how we navigate the internet today.
