In 1890, his Newcastle and District Electric Lighting Company opened the Forth Banks Power Station. This was the first power station in the world to use turbo generators for electricity. 
Marine applications provided another major stage for his inventions. Parsons founded the Parsons Marine Steam Turbine Company to apply his technology to ships. In June 1897, he famously demonstrated this at the Navy Review for Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. He used his turbine-powered yacht, the Turbinia, to show the potential of his design.

Today, the influence of Charles Parsons can still be seen in many modern systems. His turbine company eventually became part of the German conglomerate Siemens. His work on optical equipment also helped develop telescopes and searchlights. Even his family left a mark on history, as his wife and daughter co-founded the Women's Engineering Society in 1919. The Irish Academy of Engineering continues to honor his memory by awarding the Parsons Medal to exceptional engineers. His life remains a primary example of how one person's technical insight can change the entire world.
